When an officer dies in the line of duty are flags supposed to be lowered to half-staff?
Q. An officer in the town next to us died in the line of duty. We are both pretty small towns. There were a couple places that lowered their flag, and several that didn't - including the schools. Should they have been lowered?

What is the difference between a Officer and an Enlisted soldier in the Marines?
Q. I am asking this because I would like to join the Marines but also want to go to College. I can enlist to become an Officer I believe after I get out of college if I do not enlist. But what is the difference between an Officer and an Enlisted soldier?

A. There are programs not only in the Marines but in all the branches that if you enlist and apply for the school can go from enlisted to officer. But as best I can say in a nut shell the officer has a lot more responsibility than the enlisted. They must relies upon the enlisted to do the job but in the end the officer is held responsible he/she must often decide whom they will put in charge of something. Be it taken care of the grass to a truck load of beans bullets and band aids. Simple because they have been to higher education are considered to be maturity(yet I have to think of the party going on). I over heard a couple talking one time they were teasing a fellow officer. They ask her how long it took her to which she responded 4 years.… [cont.]
