What is the best country in the caribbean for a guy that loves partying to live?
Q. I am planning to go and live in a caribbean country next year for 6 months to 1 year. What country do you recommend me to go? I really love the traditional caribbean dancing where a woman whines on a man and i also love the caribbean weather and people. Being rich, black, loving good looking women and partying. What country do you recommend me to go?

A. Wow, dont bring that attitude here to the Caribbean please: "Being rich, black, loving good looking women and partying". For what you have asked you can try Barbados, Puerto Rico and maybe Jamaica if you'd go there. There is a protocol to follow before you can move to the Caribbean for that time period...you dont just pack up and come. Hope this helps!

How would you come out to Caribbean homophobic parents?
Q. I have many friends with this dilemma, believe it or not Brooklyn NY has a sizable gay and lesbian population and most of these people are semi-closeted. This topic has "never" come up on any talk show, radio show, that I am aware of, but these people are born of old school British rule West Indian/Caribbean parents who'd rather disown you than to accept any part of a gay lifestyle. Some Hispanics are also pre-disposed to this attitude within their culture.
Asked by I am 007NYC - Fri Mar 5 13:17:11 2010 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments

A. i hate when Caribbean people attribute their backwoods mentality to British influence. The British are nowhere near as homophobic as the West Indians...that's their own brand of isolated ignorance. Anyway besides that, for the time being each individual has to take it on a case by case basis. Since the Caribbean is basically one giant hell-hole of homophobia, we have to take baby steps. If the family seems open-minded then tell them. if they seem like they will disown you or chop you up with a machete...then don't tell them.

A. The Westin Aruba Resort ( ) is probably one of the highest-rated. They've got a huge casino (1,115 square meter). The Breezes Puerto Plata Resort Spa & Casino All Inclusive ( ) just finished some extensive renovations, so that might be another "good bet". ;-) Good luck!

Question about cruise lines going to the Caribbean?

I know I'm planning very early, but I'm wondering for people who have gone there or just have a lot of cruise line experience - I know Royal Caribbean is suppose to be a very nice line, but I'm wondering what Princess is like. I looked them up online and I'm interested in their mini suites, they look nice and roomy, as far as rooms go. Also, are there any spots that you just "have to go to" when you cruise the Caribbean? Any help would be greatly appreciated! I'm pretty sure that we're all going to go, the four of us, I'll be 25 by then and my brother will be 22, so I want to find something that will be comfortable and fun for my parents and for… [cont.]

A. Very nice idea and I'm sure your parents will appreciate the thought and enjoy having their whole family with them on this cruise. For something this important make sure you find a good travel agent to plan your trip and handle all the details. A good travel agent will ask you a lot of questions about what you'd like to experience on your cruise, what are the interests of everyone going, if there is anything in particular you'd like to see or do on your cruise, etc. before discussing where you'ld like to go. A ppoor agent will ask you what you want, hand you one or two brochures and tell you about why THEY like a particular cruise line. If you run into this type of agent on the phone or in person, just tell them thank you and keep… [cont.]

How come the waters in the Caribbean are crystal clear and the waters in the arctic or NJ/new york aren't?
Q. How come the waters in the Caribbean are crystal clear and the waters in the arctic or NJ/new york aren't? Well I want to know more research on this. Also does algal bloom have anything to do with global warming? Does global wamring have to do with the clarity of the water? does the fact that the caribbean is near the equater play any role in this?
Asked by Bill - Thu Nov 1 22:42:27 2007 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I think coral reefs, which only grown in tropical climates, have something to do with the clarity of the water as they serve as habitat for organisms that actively filter the water for nutrients, including micro-organisms like algae. If you believe Al Gore, increased CO2 levels in the atmosphere result in decreased ocean pH, which is detrmimental to coral reef survival, which may affect water clarity. I don't know much about the algal blooms.

What terminal is the Caribbean Princess going to be at in San Juan, Puerto Rico?
Q. I'm going on a cruise in December and was wondering if there was any way to find out what cruise terminal the Caribbean Princess will be at in San Juan? There are 2 potential places it could be - at the terminals right in the heart of Old San Juan, and the Pan-American Cruise terminal. There will be 2 other ships there that day, the 'Adventure of the Seas', and the 'Carnival Victory'. Is there a web site that you can go to find out? Thanks.
Asked by Kyle - Thu Sep 3 18:24:43 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I don't have a specific answer for you but I hope this helps: Look on-line for the Por of San Juan or do a search for cruise terminal and san juan...or some combination. For my upcoming cruise in 3 weeks, I searched Port of Miami, found their e-mail address to write and ask them where my ship would be at. I gave them my ship name and sail date. They wrote back and gave me the specific terminal. Best of luck and enjoy your trip!

In Pirates of the Caribbean 2+3 why is the British empire portrayed as the antagonists?
Q. In Pirates of the Caribbean 2+3 why is the British empire portrayed as the antagonists. They should be good because they are getting rid of piracy.
Asked by samgardner94 - Mon Apr 13 15:44:31 2009 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I think the empire wasn't so much the antagonists as the east india trading company was. They worked for the government but were shady in the way they handled things. Like when Elizabeth and Will were to be arrested and Elizabeth's father tried to send her back to England with letters to the King. The company stopped that because they didn't want the King to know what was going on. So yes piracy was a bad thing but we sympathize with the pirates and root for them because the East India trading company were shady characters. Plus it made for interesting movie twist the should be good guys aren't and the would be bad guys are our heros.

A. The government originally planned to require anyone cruising to have a passport starting January 2008. This may get pushed back again. Still, its a good idea to get them before you need them as people are now waiting up to 15 weeks before getting the passport.

A. Nuclear power, in general,I believe is the best, safest, most reliable, current technology to provide energy. The plants operating now are safe and the new designs are even safer. Building new nuclear power plants would improve the economy, reduce or eliminate dependence on foreign oil, create jobs, reduce pollution, and provide for future technological advancement. I have been working with nuclear power for about 30 years, I would be glad to have a Nuclear power plant or high level waste disposal facility in my backyard.
